Internships
Chemeketa has both credit and non-credit internship options to help you gain skills and experience.
Internships are a way for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on job skills, explore career paths, network with professionals, and build a professional resume before committing to a full-time job. Internships can be paid or unpaid and may offer academic credit.
Cooperative Work Experience (Credit Internships)
CWE Internship is a chance for credit seeking students to complete an internship related to their field of study. Students can also complete a combination of job shadowing and hands on in a field they are thinking about pursuing. Building in CWE Internship into your academic plan is the best way to ensure you earn credit towards your program degree or transfer credits.

Non-Credit Internships
Are you interested in landing a non-credit internship? Whether they are part of your curriculum or not, these are great opportunities to obtain meaningful experience and practice skills learned in the classroom. The Community Pathways to Careers Program (CPC) explores job-related goals through work-based learning experiences (WBL) such as internships and job shadows, where participants can develop soft skills, work habits and transferable skills to employment settings. An internship provides some of the following benefits:
- Real life hands-on experience
- Regular and reliable mentoring
- Increase in confidence and self-image
- Exposure to the chosen industry or discipline
- Develop a professional network
- Develop interpersonal and communication skills
